The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is used by the US Department of Education to determine your financial need based on income, assets, and household information. FAFSA completion gives you access to grants, loans, and work-study. The FAFSA is REQUIRED if you wish to apply for financial aid.

What is a Pin?Your PIN is your personal identification number. Since the FAFSA is an electronic form, your PIN = your signature. You can create this PIN at www.pin.ed.gov
When is the FAFSA "due"?Many 4-year schools have a Priority Deadline of March 1st. However, you'll want to get your FAFSA in as soon as possible to receive your financial aid award letter.
How do I get started?Should I (the student) be filing taxes for my job?Are you either age 65 or older or blind?
No. You must file a return if any of the following apply.
